The St. Louis Family & Community Partnership is a strategy of the St. Louis Metropolitan Children's Agenda.
2008 Partnership Priorities & Commitments
New Priorities:
- Increase Engagement and Participation: To broaden active engagement and participation of parents and their supports, neighbors, grassroots community partners and other key stakeholders at all levels of the partnership to strengthen families.
- Racial disproportionality and disparity: To raise awareness, promote dialogue and explore solutions to racial disproportionality, disparity and other inequities facing families and children served by individual agencies and the child welfare system as a whole.
Ongoing Commitments:
- Raise awareness and increase citizen involvement: To help prevent child abuse and neglect through public awareness campaigns such as Blue Ribbon activities during Child Abuse Prevention Month, ongoing communication strategies and connecting volunteers with opportunities to serve.
- Strengthening Families: To promote integration of the protective factors, as included in the Strengthening Families through Early Care and Education Initiative, across diverse disciplines of health and human services programs in support of the well-being of children and families throughout our community.
- Promoting the use of collaborative team practices: To increase the use, quality and timeliness of strengths-based team practices to support families and children. This includes the expansion of voluntary Family Support Teams in schools, early care and other community settings to prevent child abuse, as well as supporting the Children's Division in mandated Family Support Teams (FST), Team Decision Making Meetings (TDM) and Permanency Planning Review Teams (PPRT).
- Increasing permanency and home-based settings for older youth in alternative care: This includes reunification with kin where possible, adoption and increasing the number of family resource homes and supports available for older youth.
- To secure resources to adequately staff and sustain collaborative activities of the St. Louis Family and Community Partnership.
